Hi,

We just come back from 2 wonderful trips, the first one at Te Awa camp, in the middle of no where, for a trout fishing experience. And the second from a dive at White Island.

We found in a fishing & hunting shop a map of Te Awa Camp and after talking with the boss we decided to go over there for a first real NZ trout fishing experience. We arrived (after 200 km included 90 km of gravel road) nearly 16H00 at Te Awa. 3 hours latter and with 6 different fly in trees I caught my first NZ trout, a brown of 60 cm & about 1,7 kg… Of course after the picture I put it back in the Rangitaiki River. It’s not very easy to cook a trout in a van and sleep inside after… After 3 days, some good trout fights and a lot of great meeting, like Odell & Trevor, a couple from Whakatane were we stay a couple of night for a lot of good moments, talking about trout fishing all around the country with a glass of kiwi wine, watch there trout fishing video, made some amazing fly and try to know the best spot… Thank you so much again. It was time to go for a dive on the famous spot of White Island.

White Island is the most active volcano of New Zealand, at 50 km offshore from Whakatane. It was amazing, so blue, so big, so beautiful and simply breathtaking. 2 dives: the first one at LAISON REEF & the second at HOMESTEAD. We saw a lot of new species, king fish, blue/pink Maomao, my first wild shark just before jump in the water and the second one after 5 minutes underwater!!! (Thank you so much Lawrie, Tony, Louise…). Now we are after Taupo and we keep going… See you, I & K. (like we use to say every time, sorry for mistakes…)

PS: the winner of the December competition is Fabrizio, congratulations!!! But, kate had already eaten all the kiwis, sorry…

Hello Katia & Ivan,

(I decide to speak english also with you now ... sorry too for mistakes).

It's interesting to discover good spots of the New Zealand with you. Thanks!
Organizing your everyday life looks super clean! Sincerely, I really like the system of shower and take note of this! Yes, it's more easy to use it than to take a shower in cold Canadian Rivers water (David and I should have to think about it!).
So, your comments on your observations are more than nice! Really cool ! Good continuation and see you about the upcoming news!
Ciao,
LN

Hello Katie and Ivan, hope your Rotorua and Taupo trip is going well and you are catching trout. Just letting you know we will be at Lake Rerewhakaitu, Doc Camp, for Xmas. You could join us there if you would like. Trout fishing also from the shore lines. Maybe the 23,24,25,26 of December. Then we are going to the farm at Ohiwa Harbour. Cheers Odell and Trevor

what's up? What are your plans for christmas? Sunbathing on the beach?
Here it's absolutely freezing, it hasn't snowed yet, but i hope it will by christmas!
Kat, I have received an email from Tiphaine, and gess what, she's having a baby in spring! With Loic, they are still together! I gave her your blog link, so she might drop you a line too!
I hope you're still having lots of fun, can't wait to see you again and look at all your pictures when you're back.
I miss you, lots of love, Marie
